SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) -- Velez Sarsfield hosts Copa Libertadores champion Internacional on Wednesday in Buenos Aires, with the winner assuming sole leadership of Group 4 in the Latin American club championship.
Brazil's Internacional began defense of its title with a 3-1 loss to Uruguay's Nacional, but rebounded with a 3-0 rout of Ecuador's Emelec. Another victory on Wednesday would move the world champion atop Group 4.
Inter has three points from two matches, one point behind leaders Nacional and Velez Sarsfield. Emelec is last with zero points.
Velez Sarsfield, coming off a disappointing home draw against Nacional, needs another draw to take over the group's lead. Nacional and Emelec won't play until next week.
Internacional coach Abel Braga will be without injured midfielders Wellington Monteiro and Alex, but all other regulars should be available. The team will travel to Argentina on Tuesday.
